Ask and You Shall Recieve

My dear friend Brittani asked that I post some recipes... I'm not really sure what she is hoping for being that I really don't make anything original. Here is one of my classics...

German Pancakes (just for you Brit)

1 cup flour (white or wheat, both work)
1 cup milk
6 eggs
dash of salt
4 Tbsp butter (cold)

Pre-heat oven to 400*

Measure flour into medium mixing bowl and slowly add milk, until you have a paste. Mix in remaining milk. Mix in salt. Beat in eggs.

In a 9" x 12" cake pan, slice cold butter and spread it out over the bottom of the pan. Put in oven just long enough to melt the butter without browning it. Remove from oven and pour egg batter into pan. Put back in oven for 20 min, or until they are puffed up and the peaks are nicely browned.

Serve with maple syrup. I also like to put jam on them when made with wheat flour.

I've made your German pancakes at least 3 times since Andrew and I moved out here, and I swear I can't get them to peak like they did when you made them. I guess I don't have "the touch."

OK, so I realized my mistake a couple of days after posting this, but it is a whole cup of flour and milk, not half... Maybe that will help with yours Brit.

I hope your cross-country trek was a safe one. I think it's time you updated your blog with some great pictures. :) You can always count on me for nagging on you about your blog.
